The damage to her body told a painful story. A wire had been tied around her tail when she was much younger, cutting off circulation until the tail was already dead, while thousands of ticks covered her body and slowly drained her strength.
Those ticks had taken nearly everything from her. Blood tests revealed that her blood had become dangerously thin, and the veterinarian explained that she would not have survived more than a few days without immediate intervention.
A blood transfusion was performed to save her life, and her tail had to be amputated to prevent further suffering.
For nearly a week, her foster mother gently worked to remove the countless dead ticks from her skin, one by one, restoring not only her health but her dignity.
They named her Blossom, a name chosen with hope and intention. “You will never suffer again,” her rescuers promised her, and they meant it.
